Tom welcomed me to Purdue in 1959 when I was fresh out of high school. Our friendship continued, and I am so sorry to learn of his passing. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Tom was a fellow racer. A buddy. When we would meet up, we were all suddenly a bunch of kids lit up on speed playing with things that go fast. Sharing a passion for life. He will be dearly missed. Deepest condolences to his family is this difficult time.

Jean, thank you for letting us know of Tom’s death. He was a good man. We were good friends when they lived in Effingham and even after they moved to Chicago area, and really always kept in touch throughout the years. I know he was dealing with life as best he could and would always be positive…that’s who he was. He will be missed. Our regrets will be that we never got over to visit during his time of struggle. You did a fine job helping him deal with it all too. God bless you all. We are in FLorida right now and unable to come to the memorial. But you will be in our hearts.

I met Tom in 2008 when I discovered tether car racing. We became friends immediately. One of my proudest possessions is Tom’s wonderful lifetime collection of American Rifleman magazines that he gave me after Nancy passed away and he moved to Indianapolis. We built a crate and shipped them to Atlanta. It took a while but I now have every one cataloged and stacked in order, filling the bookcases in my bedroom.
